About Zubayeer Alf E Swani

Zubayeer Alf E Swani is an award-winning composer, vocalist, and music director whose work bridges the rich traditions of South Asian classical music with contemporary global expression. A recipient of the 40th Bangladesh National Film Award (2017) for Best Music Director for his score in Anil Baghchir Ekdin (A Day in the Life of Anil Baghchi), his compositions are celebrated for their emotional depth, refined structure, and cross-cultural resonance.

Trained in the Kasur–Patiala gharana of North Indian classical vocal music, Zubayeer brings a deep command of melody and nuance to his performances. His vocal artistry reflects a rare blend of traditional mastery and modern sensibility, showcased through his acclaimed renditions of Ghazal, Thumri, and semi-classical repertoires.

He holds a Master’s degree in Music Composition from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. During his time in Sweden, he was awarded scholarships from the Inge & Einar Rosenborg Foundation for Swedish Music and Gehrmans Musikförlag in 2002 for excellence in composition.

Zubayeer’s music has been performed and broadcast in Sweden, Bangladesh, and Canada, and he has appeared as a vocalist across India, Pakistan, the USA, the UK, Austria, and Finland. Beyond performance, he has served as Music Director for Bangladesh Television (2007–2023) and composed for several feature films and documentaries.

Through his compositions and performances, Zubayeer continues to explore the intersection of tradition and innovation—creating music that speaks to both the intellect and the heart.
